ACAM President’s Newsletter

Happy Summer Everyone! It has been six months since I became President of ACAM. Let me share some new and exciting changes your board is undertaking this year:

Benchbook on USB Flash Drive – A New Marketing Tool!
The ACAM Bench Book is now available on USB Drives! Featuring the ACAM logo, this is the best calling card you can have advertising and marketing your services as a Special Master and the Academy’s presence to the bench, bar, corporations, law schools and bar groups. The cost is $10 each and well worth the investment to promote your services and ACAM! To order, contact Lynn Turner at the ACAM office.

Membership Drive
President-Elect Cary Ichter has undertaken the task to increase the general membership nationwide by 25% and the 2015 Florida convention attendance next January by 30%. In order to do this, Cary is organizing regional membership drives around the country. If you would like to work with Cary, please contact him at cichter@ichterthomas.com.

Sheila Birnbaum Esq, of Quinn Emmanuel receives the ACAM Award of Excellence for Outstanding work as a Special Master in the Second 9/11 Fund cases from David Cohen and Marina Corodemus.

CLE Webinars
We are planning our first membership CLE webinar for this this Fall. Not only should we have a vibrant membership, we should have a well-educated group! Past President and Board member, Richard Levie is leading the way. Should you have any ideas on topics please email Richard.

Web Site
Past President and current Board member, Cathy Yanni, cathy@cathyyanni.com, is working on an enhancements to our web site to include:

  • Creating a monthly members spotlight of cases, master issues or topics featuring each a new ACAM member each month.
  • Immediate Past President David Cohen has agreed to merge his Special Master decision digest of all state and federal court special master work into our web site for monthly posting.
  • Board member Michael Cardello has volunteered to organize an Opinion Bank of Special Master opinions WHICH IS OPEN TO MEMBERS ONLY. If you would like to contribute decisions you have written or has permission to otherwise release such opinions, please contact Mike.

Credit Card Processing
ACAM has now entered the modern finance age. All dues, membership and convention registration can now be charged on credit cards of Master Card and Visa. This makes record keeping paperless and economically efficient.

2015 Annual Convention – January 23 – 25, 2015
SAVE THE DATE!! Be sure to mark your calendars to attend the 2015 Annual Convention in sunny Amelia Island, Florida! The convention will begin at noon on Friday January 23rd and ends on Sunday January 25th. We hope to see everyone there!

Wishing everyone a safe and fun Fourth of July holiday!
